Patient reports about her cure of sleep apnea

Cured from sleep apnea on 11.07.2017

As a teenager, I already had the first complaints and teasing because of snoring, rattling and snorting too loudly even when awake, as well as first problems during sports/movement, side stitching, neck and shoulder problems. Soon the following complaints were added: Back and lower back problems, doctors dismissed my breathing problems with "too small lung volume" and nothing could be done. Increasingly worse headaches, migraines, balance problems, fluctuations, strange noises in the ear and head, muscle, joint and bone? pain throughout the body and jaw, limitations in mobility and no strength. Poor sleep, never sleeping through the night, going to the toilet very frequently, even at night, constant overtiredness, lack of concentration, restless legs, fibromyalgia, lung and heart problems, panic attacks, depression.

When my sleep apnea was finally discovered, I was relieved to have finally found a cause that could be treated. Unfortunately, after initial individual improvements, the CPAP mask did not help me. The side effects of this therapy were added and everything got worse.

Thank God I found this special surgical method on the Internet and Dr. Frey, who explained to me even more contexts and backgrounds of sleep apnea. Since my health insurance (TK) did not want to pay for the necessary surgery (since no contract house), I searched extensively for a doctor in Germany who can do this special surgery (and especially the 20 mm jaw advancement that I needed). Unfortunately, I didn't find anyone who really had experience with it, most of them didn't even know this methodology, but thought it was all the same. In the meantime I know that Dr. Frey has to do some things differently in order to achieve lasting success with low risk. The fact that he uses minimally invasive piezosurgery (ultrasound, does not damage nerves and soft tissues) and the detailed overall view of OSA quickly convinced me.

On 11.7.17 I had my surgery. I will never forget the moment when I woke up from the anesthesia and started to breathe properly for the first time in my life. I am very happy to have had this surgery. I am like born again. The worst complaints are gone. And even the indirect ones have already improved significantly.

Many thanks to Dr. Frey and the whole team. They are all very nice, helpful and patient.
