cured from sleep apnea on 07.02.2019
„Sehr geehrte Leser/innen, Betroffene und Unentschlossene,
I am an ex-apneic, my name is Birgit Hugon, I am 52 years old and a teacher. I was operated and cured from sleep apnea in February 2019.
My medical history was lengthy, more than 30 years and unmanageable. In August 2018 it came to a showdown. I had myself written off sick because I was no longer capable of anything, any effort such as household, gardening and even climbing stairs was hell for me. At work I was unfocused and constantly tired. I hardly slept at night, had palpitations and suddenly woke up several times from the few moments of sleep and had to go to the toilet 4-5 times during the night. In the morning I woke up as if I were exhausted. Does any of this sound familiar? Do you suffer from similar symptoms?
I suffered from hypertension, Meniere's disease, had a hearing loss and wear 2 hearing aids and since November 2018 the CPAP mask, had constant migraines or headaches, suffer from tinnitus, chronic sinusitis, palpitations, teeth grinding, snored "like a moose" and received the crucial diagnosis "Obstructive Sleep Apnea" in October 2018. This got me thinking and was the decisive message for me to tackle the cause and not just have the symptoms treated.
My health insurance was very "concerned" about me and prescribed a breathing mask. Again, just symptom treatment!!! With the CPAP mask I suffered from anxiety, trepidation, shortness of breath and vomiting, so I gave it back after only 10 days. Now I had no alternative and was devastated. My life was in danger!!! I did not want to accept that.
So I researched on the Internet and also happened to visit the site of the SeegartenKlinik. There I found what I was looking for, there were competent people who saw my suffering as such. Now I was faced with the decision to regain quality of life or to die soon. This decision was not difficult for me! After weighing the arguments for and against, and after asking many questions to the GHS Society for the Cure of Sleep Apnea, I was able to quickly decide in favor.
So GHS explained to me why the surgeon's OR routine is so incredibly important. They informed me about the differences between a sleep apnea surgery to remove a jaw misalignment/misalignment and a surgery to cure (m)a sleep apnea. GHS explained to me what the difference is between surgery without and with rotation. They made it clear to me how dangerous sleep apnea really is and showed me that the mask does not reduce the excessive risk, which affects the heart and blood vessels. After all, who will save me from high blood pressure and shortness of breath during the day if I don't wear the mask? After all, I could hardly breathe during the day.
The company's counselors helped me make the decision to have surgery and supported me in the "war against insurance." They helped me overcome my fears about the surgery. Especially helpful was the mediation of many contacts to ex-sleep apneics who were operated by jaw advancement including rotation.
What did the surgery bring me? I finally get real AIR! I am rid of all my "beloved" medications! I can run my household again, work in the garden, am rid of my fears of death. I am a wife again and no longer a wreck! I enjoy sports again because I can breathe easier and better, and I am more efficient when cycling, running and visibly losing weight. I can keep up again and not just stand or lie around and watch!!!
What can I recommend to you "still sleep apneics"??? The operation and the time afterwards are no walk in the park, but it is definitely worth it. You should definitely have the operation if you want to live longer and especially if you want to achieve a much better quality of life. And don't listen to your health insurance at all! Because the health insurance obviously wants you to stay sick. That's why it's called that. A health insurance for sick people. Not for healed people.
